Delaware County, OH—A boy who suffered traumatic injuries in a motor vehicle collision (MVC) last month died on Saturday, June 5, 2010. The violent accident occurred on May 4 at the intersection of U.S. Route 42 and South Section Line Road, as reported by the Columbus Dispatch.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) Sgt. D.J. Smith, 40-year-old Christopher Wasielewski was operating a Ford Fusion when he ran a red light at a junction in southern Delaware County. Upon doing so, his car collided with a dump truck. The impact of the crash sent both vehicles careening into a Chevrolet van.

Emergency medical services (EMS) teams seemingly rushed to the scene to transport those injured in the multi-vehicle wreck to area hospitals.

Wasielewski’s 6-year-old son, Adam, was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital where he remained hospitalized for nearly a month. His severe injuries proved fatal on Saturday, according to a spokesperson at the hospital.

Wasielewski was transported to Ohio State University Medical Center after the dump truck-car collision. While he remains hospitalized, he was listed in fair condition as of Tuesday, June 8.

The unidentified driver of the dump truck involved managed to escape injury in the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet van, as well as his/her passengers, suffered minor injuries. It was not stated whether they were taken to area hospitals after the accident.

Sgt. Smith noted that the OSHP has prepared a report on the crash, which will be sent to the Delaware County prosecutor for review. No charges have been filed as of yet.
