Houston, TX—Two Houston Police Department officers were injured in an automobile accident while reportedly responding to a call in southwest Houston. The collision occurred on Monday, May 10, 2010 at around 4:00 a.m., at the intersection of Westpark and Tanglewilde, as reported by KTRK.

The police officers were reportedly traveling westbound on Westpark in their patrol car, when they collided with a SUV in the Tanglewilde intersection. The blue Ford Escape was traveling eastbound on Tanglewilde, when it turned into the front of the cruiser, subsequently T-boning it.

Officials reported that the cruiser did not have its lights or sirens engaged when they crossed through the intersection. It is not clear who had at the green traffic light at the time.

Both of the officers were removed from the wreckage by firefighters and transported by ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. One officer reportedly appeared to have a broken arm and some possible broken ribs. Neither of the officers have life-threatening injuries.

The SUV driver and his 2-year-old passenger were uninjured in the wreck. The SUV driver, who was not identified, passed all sobriety tests.

A full investigation is underway.
