Orlando, FL—Seven people were hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries after a Walt Disney World bus crashed into a charter bus on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. The accident occurred at the Epcot Center’s toll plaza, according to information provided by WESH.com.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers reported a Walt Disney World smashed into the back of a charter bus near the entrance to Epcot in Orlando, Florida. While the charter bus was allegedly vacant at the time of the crash, the driver of the Disney bus, as well as seven passengers, suffered injuries.

Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel responded to the scene of the accident to transport the driver to Orlando Regional medical Center to be treated for the serious injuries sustained in the bus collision. Seven Disney bus riders allegedly suffered minor injuries in the accident and were subsequently taken to Florida Hospital-Celebration Health, so medical professionals could treat them. The Epcot parking lot was closed pending preliminary investigations.

While FHP troopers and Disney officials are expected to conduct a more extensive probe into what might have caused the bus accident, Disney representatives apparently contended, “Safety is a cornerstone of our company, we are currently focused on the well-being of those involved in the situation and we are working closely with law enforcement on this matter.”
