Twin Falls, ID—A rollover crash on I-84 left a teen dead and injured four others on Monday, March 1, 2010. The Idaho State Police reported that the accident occurred around 9:45 a.m., on I-84 near Hazelton, as reported by the Desert News.

A 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt was reportedly headed east on I-84 when the driver, Rex Sanasan, 20, of Clinton, apparently fell asleep behind the wheel. The car then veered off the side of the highway, when the driver suddenly woke up and overcorrected, which caused the vehicle to roll and eject three of the backseat passengers. The three backseat passengers, Eaity Emich, 17, Bennett Barry, 22, and Keio Takky, 9, were not wearing their seatbelts at the time. They were rushed by responding emergency medical services (EMS) teams to Minidoka Memorial Hospital in serious condition. Emich was later airlifted to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where his injuries proved fatal. As of Monday night, Barry and Takky were still in serious condition. Sanasan and the front seat passenger, Kevin Elimo, 17, were wearing their seatbelts and sustained non-critical injuries. They were transported to a Twin Falls area hospital for treatment. Police officials are still investigating the fatal rollover accident. Alcohol was not a factor.
