Butler County, OH (News)—A head-on motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving a sports utility vehicle and a car tragically killed two people and left three others seriously injured on Wednesday night, February 24, 2010. The crash occurred in the 4800 block of Augspurger Road in St. Clair Township, Ohio, according to information provided by DaytonDailyNews.com.

Authorities from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office reported an Acura, driven by 68-year-old Shirlena Hornsby, traveling east on Augspurger Road, veered over the center line, subsequently coming driving into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Blazer SUV, driven by 18-year-old Ronald Young. The vehicles collided head-on, fatally injuring both of the motorists’ on impact.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews seemingly responded to the scene to transport the three injured SUV passengers to hospitals to be treated by doctors and nurses. One passenger, identified as 19-year-old Joshua Lykins, was allegedly airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital via medical helicopter. Lykins is reportedly still in critical condition at the hospital. Two more passengers who were riding in the SUV at the time, identified as 18-year-old William Stamper and 16-year-old Brittany Centers, were apparently transported to Atrium Medical Center. Stamper was reportedly transferred to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated in the emergency room on Thursday morning while Centers was listed in stable condition in Atrium’s intensive care unit. An icy spot in the roadway was believed to be a factor in the crash. Investigations are underway.
