Florida Highway Patrol investigates Florida turnpike car wreck that left one dead, one injured.

Tamarac, FL—A female driver was tragically killed in a single-vehicle crash on the Florida Turnpike on Friday, January 1, 2010, according to information provided by the Sun-Sentinel. The wreck reportedly occurred around 1 p.m.

The 26-year-old driver, Roshah Dejean of Connecticut, was allegedly northbound on the turnpike, near Commercial Boulevard, when the fatal accident happened. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) allegedly reported that Dejean was traveling in the center lane when she lost control of her 1993 Toyota Camry while attempting to switch lanes. The car reportedly spun out across the lanes of the roadway, subsequently sending the car careening into an outside guardrail. The Camry then proceeded to flip over on impact, coming to a rest on its left side.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews responded to the crash scene to transport any individuals injured after the incident. A passenger in the Camry, 30-year old Johane G. Boursiquot, was taken to Florida Medical Center in Lauderdale Lakes to be treated by doctors and nurses for the injuries she sustained. Dejean was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene of the horrible car wreck.

The cause of the motor vehicle accident is currently unknown but remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
