New York, NY–Iberworld Airbus A320 makes an emergency return landing to the Canary Islands on Wednesday morning after the pilots and flight crew reported engine problems. As reported by CNN, air traffic control was alerted by pilots of Flight 6201, which took off from the Gran Canaria Airport in Las Palmas, Spain, of technical problems with the Airbus’s engines. The 189 passenger Spanish flight, that departed around 8:05 a.m. local time, was en route to Oslo, Norway, when the flight crew was forced to activate emergency landing procedures.
Commercial airline officials with Iberworld reported the plane landed successfully, without difficulty, and no injuries to passengers or crew members. All 189 passengers of Flight 6201 were transferred off the failing Airbus A320 and onto another Spanish aircraft. The new plane is scheduled to take-off from Las Palmas at 12:30 p.m. local time en route to Oslo.
