Illinois mesothelioma cancer victim’s family compensated in asbestos lawsuit – news for Chicago asbestos injury attorneys
Chicago, IL (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the family of Jean Holmes, who died in April 2006 from mesothelioma cancer, filed an asbestos injury lawsuit agianst Pneumo Abex, LLC and Honeywell International Inc., in a McLean County, Illinois court house. The jury returned a $2.6 million dollar verdict to Holmes’ relatives who filed the asbestos injury lawsuit against the companies. The family and their legal team alleged the asbestos company’s negligence caused the wrongful death of Holmes.
According to court documents filed by the mesothelioma cancer lawyers for the family, Holmes developed mesothelioma cancer from secondary exposure to asbestos when she laundered her husband’s work clothes. Donald Holmes the spouse of the decedent worked at Bloomington’s Union Asbestos and Rubber Company in the 1960’s. Asbestos attorneys for the family argued Holmes was never made aware of the dangers of asbestos exposure by the companies and the asbestos companies conspired with other businesses to suppress information about the hazards of asbestos.
