Los Angeles – The estate of Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera has filed a lawsuit against the owner of the jet involved in her 2012 death. As reported by WebProNews, the lawsuit filed against Starwood Management Inc. alleges the company’s negligence led to her death.

Rivera died after the plane crashed in Mexico after plunging 28,000 feet. Her publicist, attorney, makeup artist, hair stylist, and a pilot were also killed in the plane crash.

The lawsuit alleges that the pilots that the company hired were not licensed and prior damage to the plane after another accident had not been fixed.

As noted in the report, Rivera’s widower, former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Esteban Loaiza, previously filed a lawsuit against the company for wrongful death that was subsequently dismissed at Loaiza’s request.
