Los Angeles – A businessman in India was arrested after attempting to buy a baby who was placed for sale on Facebook. As reported by the Christian Post, the baby was kidnapped by his grandfather in Ludhiana, Punjab, India, and sold multiple times after the grandfather told the mother that the child had been stillborn.

A lab technician placed a picture of the baby on Facebook, listing him for sale after buying him from a hospital nurse. Businessman Amit Kumar reportedly paid 800,000 rupees (approx. $14,750) for the child.

The mother of the baby grew suspicious and made a report to authorities after receiving a large sum of money from her father.

Multiple arrests have since been made in the case.
