Riverdale, NJ — An ambulance responding to an accident was involved in an accident of its own when another vehicle collided with the ambulance on Timber Ridge Road Friday morning, March 29, 2013. The automobile accident occurred at the intersection of Timber Ridge Road and Mathews Avenue at 7:05 a.m., NJ.com reported.

According to officials, the ambulance was responding to a one-vehicle accident, where a vehicle had overturned, when a vehicle turning onto Matthews struck the Pompton Lakes/Riverdale First Aid Squad ambulance.

The ambulance sustained damage to the passenger side quarter panel. No one was injured.

The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Giardina, 34, of Riverdale, was issued summonses for careless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

The driver of the overturned vehicle was taken to Chilton Hospital by the Pompton Lakes/Riverdale First Aid Squad.

No charges were filed against the driver.
