Miami – A Florida teen has been charged in the school bus shooting death of a 13-year-old girl. As reported by Reuters, charges were filed against 15-year-old Jordyn Alexander Howe late Tuesday following the incident, which occurred Tuesday morning.

According to an arrest affidavit, the gun was stated to have fired after Howe took it out of his backpack and showed it to others on the private school bus. Lourdes Guzman was hit in the head and subsequently died of her injuries after being taken to Miami Children’s Hospital.

Video surveillance equipment was not on the bus at the time according to police. Howe has been charged with manslaughter and carrying a concealed firearm.
