Air Tank Explosion Injures 3 in San Angelo Industrial Accident

San Angelo, TX — Three people were injured in an industrial accident Monday morning, when a pressurized-air tank exploded. The workplace accident occurred around 8:25 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, in the 3800 block of Christoval Road, reported the Standard-Times.
According to reports, workers were pressure testing a tank that had been built when it broke loose and exploded. The tank was reportedly 6-feet in diameter, and about 20-feet-tall.
It is unknown how close the three victims were to the tank when it exploded, but they all sustained injuries.
Responding emergency crews rushed the victims, who remain unidentified, to Shannon Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. The nature of their injuries and their conditions were not reported.
Investigations into the industrial accident are underway. It is unknown if the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be launching their own investigation into the accident.
