School Bus Crash in Downtown St. Louis Injures 8

St. Louis, MO — A school bus accident injured seven students when it collided with a passenger vehicle Thursday morning, January 5, 2012. The school bus crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on southbound I-55 near 7th Street in downtown St. Louis, KMOV.com reported.

Officials reported that 25 high school-aged students were on board the school bus when it collided with another vehicle. The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to spin uncontrollably, until it stopped in the middle of the interstate.

Responding emergency crews rushed one person in the vehicle to an area hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Seven students aboard the school bus were also taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Their injuries are reportedly considered to be minor.

The identities of the injured are being withheld at this time.

It is unknown at this time what caused the school bus and vehicle to collide.

Investigations into the school bus accident are underway.
