McKinney, TX — The editor of an online fashion magazine, LoloMag.com, was seriously injured when she accidentally walked too close to a small plane’s propeller. The North Texas woman lost her hand in the Saturday, December 3, 2011 accident that took place at a private airport in McKinney, reported MyFoxDFW.

According to reports, Lauren Scruggs, 23, had just got off the two-seater 2011 Aviat Husky A-1C-180 plane when she apparently walked in front of the propeller, following a flight to see Christmas lights. She lost her left hand and suffered eye, shoulder and head injuries as result.

Emergency crews airlifted Scruggs by Careflight helicopter to Parkland Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She reportedly underwent several surgeries over the weekend.

Scruggs was apparently letting another passenger get in the passenger seat for another flight when the accident occurred.

The pilot, Kurt Richmond of Frisco, was not injured in the accident.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the accident.
