Charlotte, NC — AirTran is a facing a lawsuit filed by a North Carolina couple who encountered some creepy, crawly passengers during a flight with the air carrier. The couple was on a flight from Charlotte to Houston when they witnessed cockroaches crawling about the cabin, reported New York Daily News.

Harry Marsh and his fiancé Kaitlin Rush filed the lawsuit after a September flight with AirTran Airways, where they witnessed cockroaches crawling out of air vents and carry-on compartments.

The couple says they took photos and alerted flight attendants about the bug problem, and were allegedly ignored. Marsh further claimed that when he did speak to a flight attendant about the issue, the flight attendant put a finger to her mouth as to quiet him when he tried to talk to her about the bugs.

The cockroaches forced the couple to wash and throw away their belongings on the trip in fear that the bugs had become stowaways in their luggage.

The lawsuit is seeking over $100,000 in damages, plus the price of their airline tickets. In addition, they are suing for negligence and recklessness, intentional infliction of emotional distress, fraud, false imprisonment and unfair and deceptive trade practices.
