New York, NY — A fender-bended turned deadly when two people were thrown over a concrete barrier on the Cross Bronx Expressway. The fatal crash occurred around 5:49 a.m., near Bruckner Boulevard, reported the New York Post.

According to reports, a vehicle with 10 occupants was involved in a wreck on the westbound lanes of the highway when Jennifer Sosa, 20, and her brother Pedro Luis Sosa, 19, got out to inspect the damage.

A 1999 Toyota Corolla then slammed into the Sosa’s vehicle, causing Jennifer and Pedro to be thrown over a concrete barrier of the overpass. They fell 75 feet to the ground at Bruckner Boulevard and Brush Avenue.

Jennifer was killed as a result, and Pedro sustained life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition. Responding emergency crews rushed Pedro to an area hospital where he is reportedly “clinging to his life,” the NY Posted stated.

Police have cited the icy roads and motorist’s rubbernecking of a previous accident in the eastbound direction as causes of the fatal wreck.

Investigations into the fatal traffic accident are under way.
