2 NY Firefighters Injured in Buffalo Building Fire

Buffalo, NY — A fire on Bailey Avenue left two Buffalo firefighters with injuries Thursday morning, August 25, 2011. The fire broke out just before 5:00 a.m. at 2882 Bailey Ave., reported Eastside News.
Officials reported that the two firefighters were injured while battling the fire, which broke out in a building that houses the Zaid Haykal Jr. Income Tax Services on the first floor and apartments on the second floor.
When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke pouring out of the second floor.
One person was trapped on the second floor, but managed to escape by jumping out of a window and sliding down a gutter pipe. That person was transported to ECMC for treatment of leg injuries.
The two injured firefighters sustained injuries that included one arm injury and a back injury. They were also taken to ECMC for observation.
The fire reportedly caused damage to the building that reached $50,000.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are underway.
