UPDATE: Miami-Dade Health Department Confirms Third Cholera Case in Florida

Miami, FL—Authorities from the Miami-Dade Health Department confirmed Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, that an American Airlines passenger who fell ill during a flight from the Dominican Republic to Miami, Fla., had cholera. The passenger, whose identity was withheld, was a doctor who was treating cholera patients in Haiti, as previously reported in “Doctor Falls Ill During Flight From Santo Domingo to Miami; Cholera Suspected.”

According to a CBS 12 report, this was the third confirmed case of cholera in Florida. Two women, one from Collier County and the other from Orlando, were treated for cholera after they were infected during visits to Haiti.
