Black Eyed Peas Sued Again for Alleged Song Plagiarism

Hollywood, CA—The Black Eyed Peas are being accused of plagiarism once again in a recently flied lawsuit. A Texan songwriter claims the Black Eyed Peas’ “I Got A Feeling” is based on his 90s song, “Take A Dive,” as reported by MTV UK.
Bryan Pringle claims that “Take A Drive,” is very similar to the Black Eyed Peas’ 2009 chart-topping hit. Pringle says he sent his song to several record companies through the years, including the Black Eyed Peas’ record label, Interscope. Pringle alleges he never received a replay from the record label.
This isn’t the first copyright battle the Black Eyed Peas have been involved with. Singer Phoenix Phenom filed a copyright lawsuit against the band, claiming that their song “Boom Boom Pow” is a rip off of Phenom’s “Boom Dynamite.” Phenom says she submitted her track to Interscope a year before the Pea’s hit song was released.
Both lawsuits claims that the Black Eyed Peas and Interscope acted in a “pattern and practice of intentional copyright infringement with respect to the unlawful copying of songs of unknown or lesser-known artists.”
The two lawsuits are seeking damages, which include profits from the global hits and future royalties.
