Williston, VT—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Green Mountain Vista have voluntarily recalled about 200,000 roman shades. The CPSC announced the recall on October 7, 2010, which cited a risk of strangulation for the cause of the recall.

The CPSC reported, “Strangulations can occur when a child places his/her neck between the exposed inner cord and the fabric on the backside of the shade or when a child pulls the cord out and wraps it around his/her neck. This recall involves all Green Mountain Vista Roman shades. These shades have a small sewn-on label on the back side of the shade with RN#107875.”

The recalled shades were sold at specialty home textile shops and through mail order companies across the USA. The product was sold from September 2004 through August 2010, which sold for between $40 and $120.

Consumers are advised to contact the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) for a free repair kit by called (800) 506-4636, or visit www.windowcoverings.org.

For further information concerning the recall, consumers can contact contact Green Mountain Vista at (800) 639-1728 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit their website at www.gmvista.com.
