Tulsa, OK—Two triple fatality plane crashes were reported in Oklahoma over the weekend, one occurring on Saturday, July 10 and the other on Sunday, July 11, 2010. The tragic pair of aviation accidents occurred in Tulsa and Owasso, sequentially, according to reports by FOX 23 and KJRH.

On Saturday, air traffic controllers were notified of mid-flight troubles aboard a plane occupied by three US Highland employees just after 10 p.m. At 10:15 p.m., the unspecified aircraft crashed near Tulsa’s Mohawk Park.

The unfortunate aviation accident occurred approximately 2,000 yards away from Tulsa International Airport, claiming two lives at the scene. A third victim was initially taken to an area hospital for treatment, but sadly succumbed to his injuries at the medical center.

Those fatally injured in the Tulsa plane crash were identified as 51-year-old Chase Bales, 37-year-old Damian Riddoch and 41-year-old Mats Malmberg.

On Sunday, a separate plane crash occurred in Owasso, Okla. Reports indicated a 1973 Cessna 177 aircraft nosedived into a backyard as it approached Gundy’s Airport.

The accident, which occurred around 8:10 p.m., resulted in three casualties as well. The victims were identified as 64-year-old Richard Shimer, 55-year-old Lonnie Hardin and 53-year-old Joseph Provenzano.

Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have been notified of both accidents. Investigations are expected to be underway.
