Spartanburg, S.C.– Dritz Quick Cut™ Electric Scissors have been voluntarily recalled by Prym Consumer USA and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) over fire and burn hazards. The CPSC announced the recall on June 10, 2010.

About 12,000 electric scissors were recalled after discovering that the electric scissors can overheat, resulting in fire and burn hazards.

At this time Prym Consumer USA has received two reports of the electric scissors catching fire and causing minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.

The scissors are blue and white, and are about 10” long and include an AC adaptor. The word “Dritz” is imprinted on the handle on the blue grip.

The recalled electric scissors were sold at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores and other craft stores across the U.S. The product was sold from September 2009 through February 2010 for about $50.

Consumers are advices to the return the scissors to the place of purchase or mail the product directly to Prym Consumer USA to receive a refund. If you choose to mail the product to Prym, please include the product, your complete name, mailing address and phone number in the package and mail to Prym Consumer USA Recall Center, 950 Brisack Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
