California train accident lawyers alert- A Muni Metro train hit a pedestrian and trapped him underneath the train.

San Francisco, CA—Police officials are investigating how a man became trapped underneath a Muni Metro train on Saturday, January 30, 2010. The man was hit by the train around 4:30 a.m. at Randolph and Ramsell streets, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.

An inbound train reportedly struck the unidentified man as he was apparently walking across the street and fell under the train. Luckily, he was not run over by the wheels. Rescue crews rushed to the scene and used air bags and jacks to lift the train nearly a foot to free the pedestrian. The man was reportedly, “conscious and talking, gave the thumbs-up.” His injuries were serious, but weren’t believed to be life-threatening. He was rushed to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries by doctors and nurses. Police and Muni officials are trying to determine the cause of the accident. Because of standard procedures that comes with any accident, the train operator will be tested for drugs and alcohol and will be put on non-driving status until the investigation is completed. Service on the M line was shut down for nearly two-hours. Muni supplied replacement bus shuttles to make up for the disruption in service.
