Cottage Grove, WI—Johnson Health Tech North America Inc. has participated in the voluntary recall of Horizon Fitness and LIVESTRONG™ Fitness Elliptical Trainers after it was recognized that the fitness equipment could pose a fall hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov announced the product recall on Thursday, January 21, 2010.

The Cottage Grove, Wisconsin based firm declared that approximately 18,000 elliptical trainers have been recalled after it was noticed that the foot pedal may unfasten itself from the equipment, subsequently creating a fall hazard. Though no injuries have been reported, there has been an alleged 58 instances in which foot pedals have become disengaged.

The brand names, Horizon Fitness or LIVESTRONG Fitness, as well as the product model number, can be found on the top portion of elliptical trainers’ console display. The serial number is reportedly located on the front support tube of the workout gear. The model and serial numbers included in the recall are listed below.

The elliptical trainers, manufactured in China, were being sold throughout the nation from October 2009 to November 2009 in sporting goods retail stores as well as online at www.livestrongfitness.com and www.dickssportinggoods.com.
