Oak Hill, FL—A man suffered severe burns to sixty percent of his body after a residential fire broke out at a home in Volusia County, Florida. The blaze reportedly occurred on Monday morning, January 18, 2010, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal Online.
The inferno broke out in the garage of a home, located at 194 Randle Avenue in Oak Hill. Firefighters from Volusia County Fire Services were dispatched to the fiery scene near 11 a.m. Monday. Upon their arrival, smoke was allegedly “pouring from the garage”.
Brave fire fighters swiftly rescued the badly burnt victim the smoldering garage. The unidentified male was allegedly transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center via sheriff’s helicopter to be treated by responding doctors and nurses. A Florida Division of State Fire Marshal official allegedly reported that the man sustained second and third degree burns in the house blaze. Medical professionals at ORMC allegedly listed in critical but stable condition.
The source of the inferno is currently unknown though State Fire Marshal officials are conducting an investigation into what may have caused the residential fire. According to information provided by the Florida State Fire Marshal, there are more than 209 fires in Florida on a daily basis.
