Fatal car crash kills passenger, driver faces involuntary manslaughter charges.

Knightdale, NC— A 16-year-old East Wake High School student tragically died on Tuesday due to the severity of the injuries he acquired in a car crash on Monday, December 7, 2009. Austin Marx, 17, was the driver of the 1996 Chevy Camaro involved in the fatal wreck, as reported by ABC News. Marx and Gavin Westover were allegedly on their lunch break from school when the fatal accident occurred. The crash site was located north of U.S. Route 64 on Puryear Road near the intersection of Marks Creek. Emergency medical services (EMS) crews transported the seriously injured teens to WakeMed Hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. Westover, the passenger in the wreck, was pronounced dead on Tuesday by WakeMed medical personnel. Marx was treated for his crash injuries and then was released.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Marx allegedly confessed that he was driving approximately 85 to 90 mph when he lost control of the vehicle causing the Camaro to roll over multiple times.

Marx allegedly had noticeable scratches on his face when he went to the police department to turn himself in due to the involuntary manslaughter charges he is currently being faced with.
