Great Falls, MT—A Westside resident awakened in a very unusual way; a car crashed into his home, and was found lying on its side in his hallway. A car apparently lost control around 5:30 a.m., hit a fire hydrant in the front yard of the home, and then careened into the side of the home and into the living room, as reported by the Great Falls Tribune.

According to police officials, a car slammed into a home on 523 4th Ave, which left a gaping hole in the outside structure of the home, cleared a path through the living room to the kitchen, and finally stopped in its side in the back hallway of the house. The renter of the home, Mike MacKenzie, woke up to the roaring sound of the car tearing through his home and discovered three people trying to pull each other from the wreckage. Upon noticing the resident, the suspect fled the scene. One person inside the vehicle was taken to an area hospital for treatment. MacKenzie sustained non-life threatening injuries from flying glass that struck him from the impact of the crash. MacKenzie reportedly lost everything he owned in the crash, which included furniture, food, antiques, a sports memorabilia, and his 9-year-old daughters belongings. Fortunately, she was not at the residence when the wreck occurred. Great Falls Police officials stated felony charges are pending in connection with the accident. MacKenzie told police he smelled alcohol on their breath. The crash is under investigation by Great Falls police officials.
