Tucson, AZ—A head-on crash involving an Altar Valley School District bus and a car, left three people dead and two others injured. The fatal two-vehicle crash happened on Tuesday morning, September 22, 2009, around 6:00 p.m. on Arizona 86 west of South Kinney Road near Ryan Airfield, as reported by the Arizona Daily Star.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) http://www.azdps.gov/ reported, a car possibly traveling westbound on Arizona 86, crossed the centerline and slammed head-on into a school bus. A DPS photo radar van was reportedly in the area where the crashed occurred. Investigators plan to review the footage to help determine what exactly happened. The unidentified 51-year-old driver of the car, and the passengers, Barbara Jean Scott, 39, and Jerry A. Carrasco, 27, of Tucson were all killed in the wreck. The school bus was reportedly transporting four high school students, and two adults when the crash occurred. Two of the four students were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital has a precaution. The two adults were uninjured. The school bus was reportedly transporting the students to the Flowing Wells High School when the fatal crash happened. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the two-vehicle head-on crash.
