Indiana personal injury attorney alert- A fire and explosion at Zimmer Holdings Inc. injured workers.

Warsaw, IN—An explosion at Zimmer Holdings Inc., which manufactures orthopaedic products, injured three of its employees. The explosion at its Warsaw, Indiana plant caused a fire to ignite on Thursday, September 3, 2009 around 1:45 p.m. located in Zimmer’s Building 5, as reported by Reuters.

The explosion and furnace fire caused Building 5 to be evacuated, and production to be shut down. Warsaw Fire Department responded to the blast, and had the fire contained and extinguished by 3:34 p.m. Three employees were reportedly injured in the blast. One of the injured workers was transferred to a hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of burns he sustained in connection with the explosion and fire. The two other employees were treated locally for their unknown injuries. Investigators are currently withholding the identities of the injured workers. No other employees have reportedly been injured from the explosion and fire. Investigators are currently trying to determine what caused the explosion and ignited the furnace fire.
