Minneapolis, MN– A head-on collision between an SUV and a dump truck kills two adults and two children. The accident occurred on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 around 9 a.m. on County Road 6 near Independence, as reported by the Star Tribune.

According to preliminary accident reports, a Chevrolet Suburban was traveling east on County Road 6 when the SUV crossed over into the westbound lanes, and struck a dump truck head-on. The impact of the collision ignited a small fire in the SUV, but was quickly extinguished by witnesses of the accident. The male driver of the SUV, a female passenger, and a child was pronounced dead at the scene of the tragic automobile crash. Another child, who witnesses identified as a female, was airlifted by area emergency medical service (EMS) crews to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. The young girl was pronounced dead by attending medical professionals shortly after arriving at the hospital for treatment. The identities of the victims are being withheld until family members are notified. The driver and passenger of the dump truck were reportedly uninjured in the horrific head-on collision. It appeared no one inside the Suburban was wearing as seatbelt at the time of the accident.
