Maryland product liability lawyer news: Feds recall defective DeWalt Framing Nailers!

Baltimore based DeWalt power tool maker recalls defective Framing Nailers.
Baltimore, MD(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–DeWalt Industrial Tool Company www.dewalt.com, a subsidiary of
Black and Decker has participated in a voluntary recall, with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) www.cpsc.gov, on approximately 9,000 DEWALT D51825 and D51850 Framing Nailers. The recall was announced on June 25, 2009, after discovering a defect with the bump action triggers on the nailers, posing a hazard to the operator and those around him. The triggers were possibly put together wrongly, causing a fastener to be ejected unexpectedly. The defective mechanism may also cause the lock-off, on the trigger, to not work correctly. DeWalt is a Baltimore based power tool manufacturer that makes and distributes a brand of power tools for the construction and woodworking industries world-wide.
The following models and descriptions are under federal recall:
- Model number D51825, Clipped Head Framing Nailer, with a date code range of “20080249-20082749”
- Model number D51850, Full Round Head Framing Nailer, with a date code range of “20080249-20082749”
The recall does not include units stamped with a “T”. The recalled framing nailers were made in Mexico and retailed for approximately $280. They were available for purchase at wholesalers and retailers across the country. No injuries or incidents related to the recalled items have been reported. Safety regulators urge consumers to stop using the recalled DEWALT framing nailers. A free replacement bump action trigger and information regarding the recall is available by contacting the Baltimore County company by phone at 877-437-7181 or by visiting the firm’s website at www.DEWALT.com. Injuries and incidents should be reported to the CPSC by visiting their website at www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx.
