2 Deerfield Beach banks struck by cars leaves bank employee and patron injured.
Deerfield Beach, FL (JusticeNewsFlash.com)—Two separate Deerfield Beach area bank branches were hit by cars within the same hour, leaving three people injured, as reported by the Sun Sentinel. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reported the first bank-crash, which involved an unknown elderly woman, occurred at 1:20 p.m., at the 1031 S. Military Trail Washington Mutual bank branch. Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Deputies claim the woman hit the gas instead of the brakes, which caused her to jump a curb, plow through some hedges, and hit the Washington Mutual bank. The elderly woman was reportedly not injured, and there was no reported damage to the bank.
The second bank-crash occurred just twenty minutes later. Reportedly another elderly women identified as June Kennedy, 80, of Pompano Beach drove her Toyota Solara into a Wachovia branch building around 1:42 p.m. Kennedy was apparently trying to park her car in a handicap spot when she lost control, and slammed into the Wachovia building. The unruly car struck a bank employee and a customer, injuring the bank patron, worker and herself. BSO officials state all three victims were transported by Deerfield Beach Fire-Rescue to North Broward Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Kennedy reportedly has a medical condition which causes shortness of breath. Authorities say it is unknown at this time if the medical condition caused the 1:42 p.m. crash. Kennedy was cited for reckless driving.
