President Obama praises retiring Justice and announces independent replacement.
Washington, D.C.(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–President Obama and his White House administration were informed, on Friday, by Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter, he will retire at the end of the current term in June. President Obama made a cameo appearance, on Friday, during the daily White House press briefing announcing he will seek an independent justice with an excellent record, as reported by the New York Times.
The young Supreme Court Justice, from New Hampshire, is reportedly in good health and his reasons for retirement are up for speculation by legal and judicial experts. This will be the first Supreme Court seat appointed by a Democratic President since former President Bill Clinton appointed Stephen G. Breyer in 1994. With the strong Democratic majority in the Senate, lawyers are speculating President Obama’s selection may win prompt Congressional approval in time for the new Supreme Court session in October.
