CDC confirms 2 swine flu cases in San Antonio area of Texas

The Texas Department of State Health says 2 Guadalupe County swine flu cases.

San Antonio, TX(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–The Texas Department of State Health Services (TXHHS) http://www.dshs.state.tx.us confirmed two cases of swine flu on Thursday. According to Texas health officials, two 16 year-old boys from Guadalupe County, near San Antonio, who became ill on April 10 and April 14 have confirmed test results positive for swine influenza A (H1N1) virus.

The laboratory results were performed and confirmed by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) www.cdc.gov. The CDC influenza investigators say the preliminary data suggests the virus closely matches the recent swine flu virus infection cases in Southern California. The CDC, Department of State Health Services (DSHS) www.hhs.gov, and local public health agencies in Texas are already involved in an investigation of the swine flu virus from the two original Southern California cases. The first California case afflicted a 10 year-old boy who traveled to Dallas for an extended visit with relatives when he fell ill to the flu virus. No additional people or cases connected to any of the confirmed illnesses have been confirmed.

Symptoms of the swine flu involve fever, lethargy, lack of appetite, cough, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Health officials urge the public to follow standard precautions to reduce the spread of respiratory illness.
