Second Metro train death on Washington area commuter rail system in 48 hours.
Falls Church, VA (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–An Orange Line Metrorail train at the East Falls Church Virginia station hit and killed on man early Sunday morning. The Washington Post reported the second commuter railroad fatality involving a Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) train in 48 hours on Sunday. WMATA transit police have launched an investigation into the fatal commuter train accident.
The Orange Line train, bound for New Carrollton, hit the unidentified man at approximately 1:44 a.m., according to Metro officials. The track was closed and the Orange Line passenger service was switched to a different Metro rail track until 3 a.m. when the Metro closes. Metro Area Transit Authority police in Virginia have withheld the identity of the victim pending notification of the victim’s fatality.
