A Fort Worth man who was recently arrested in connection with a fatal car crash that left one woman dead has a history of DWI. According to Fort Worth car crash attorney Amy Witherite of Eberstein Witherite LLP, reports say the husband of the car wreck victim recalled to the media the most recent drunk driving incident which occurred while he and his wife were traveling back to St. Louis after a visit with their daughter in San Antonio.

“FORT WORTH – William Williams can still picture the white pickup truck racing up behind him on I-35 as he passed through Fort Worth with Margaret, his wife of 55 years, on Sept. 27… “The guy tried to pass me on the left side,” Williams, 77, said Wednesday in a telephone interview from Missouri. “And he hit the rear end of the car on the driver’s side.”

The report further states that the impact caused Williams’ car to skid right and slam into a wall. He was not injured, but his wife sustained blunt force trauma to the chest and died three days later.
Says Witherite, who is not connected to the case, “one of the saddest elements of this accident is that the driver accused of causing the fatal crash had a history of reckless driving behavior, including two past DWI convictions.” The Fort Worth attorney says this is one example of the numerous fatal crashes that occur throughout the state of Texas each year and involve repeat DWI offenders. The suspect in this case now faces a felony DWI-repetition charge.
