North Carolina – Volunteers recently distributed 500 donated sleeping bags to hundreds of homeless people in Charlotte. As reported by TWC News, the not-for-profit restaurant King’s Kitchen, accepted the sleeping bags from a West Virginia based car dealership and passed them out to various homeless individuals on the city’s streets.

As noted in the report, King’s Kitchen volunteers provide sandwiches and coffee for the homeless every Friday. The volunteers will reportedly continue to pass out sleeping bags all winter, and are accepting donations at the restaurant for the cause.

Amy Lambert with the King’s Kitchen is quoted as stating of giving out the items, “It’s a great opportunity to literally save lives… When you get to go home to your warm house and you’re left with those memories of people you know are sleeping on the street.”
