Beijing – At least 11 people were killed and several others injured in a highway collapse in China. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), an explosion of a truck containing fireworks for the Lunar New Year celebration caused the collapse in which 11 people were confirmed to have died and 11 others injured as a result.

A truck driver who was near the explosion when it occurred is quoted by the AP as stating to China Central Television, “I heard a huge bang and immediately braked. I saw small fireballs falling down one by one.”

The truck reportedly had false papers regarding what was being transported. Four people were detained by Chinese authorities in connection with the incident.
