Sunderland, MD — A school bus and a FedEx truck were involved in a collision Monday afternoon, March 5, 2012, which sent several people to area hospitals when the truck rear-ended the bus. The automobile accident occurred on Route 2 near the Mount Hope Community Center, reported WUSA9.com.

According to reports, the school bus was stopped with its light flashing at the time of the crash. It is unknown what caused the FedEx truck to rear-end the school bus.

Responding emergency crews transported three people to area hospitals, including the truck driver who was airlifted to Prince George’s County Hospital Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

One student and the school bus driver were among the injured. They were transported to the hospital via ambulance.

The identities of those involved in the wreck are being withheld at this time.

The Maryland State Police are investigating the school bus accident.

It is unknown if the FedEx driver will be facing any charges related to the crash.
