Gallatin, TN— A flash fire at a Gallatin industrial plant that critically injured two men, has claimed the life of one of the victims. The industrial accident occurred at 4:50 a.m., on Monday, January 31, 201 at GKN/Hoeganaes Corporation, located on Airport Road, as reported by the Tennessean.

According to police officials, two maintenance workers identified as Wiley Sherburne, 42, of Castalian Springs and Vernon Wayne Corley, 31, of Lebanon, were severely burned when an electrical short caused a flash fire with some materials within the plant.

Responding emergency crews rushed the two workers to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with critical injuries.

On Wednesday, Sherburne’s injuries proved fatal and he was pronounced dead at 11:45 a.m. Corley remains in critical condition.

Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident. The Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health department is also investigating the industrial accident.
