CPSC Recall: General Wax & Candle Company Recalls Taper Candles

North Hollywood, CA—General Wax & Candle Company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have voluntarily recalled about 33,000 silver and gold metallic taper candles. The CPSC announced the recall on November 23, 2010; over a fire hazard the product poses.
The recall was initiated after discovering that the metallic paint on the candles can ignite, posing a risk of fire.
The CPSC reported, “This recall involves 10 inch metallic silver and gold taper candles. The price “$1.99″ and the UPC code 609032492687 or 609032492694 are printed on the candles’ plastic wrapping.”
The recalled candles were sold exclusively at Yankee Candle stores across the U.S. from October 2010 through November 2010 for about $2.
Consumers are advised to return the candles to any Yankee Candle store or contact General Wax and Candle for a full refund.
