Five-car crash leaves toddler with a traumatic brain injury!

Utah Highway Patrol alerts Utah automobile accident lawyers- Five vehicle pileup on interstate 15 leaves child with a traumatic brain injury.

Brigham City, UT—Five vehicles carrying 24 people crashed on Interstate 15 leaving a 2-year-old and five others seriously injured. The five-vehicle crash occurred on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., as reported by the Salt Lake Tribune.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a loose bicycle that fell out of a vehicle is to blame for the multi-vehicle pileup on the northbound lanes on I-15 near Willard. The loose bicycle was hit by a Mitsubishi, which caused it to loose control and spin out on the highway. A Toyota was able to stop behind the Mitsubishi before hitting the car but was then hit by a Chevy Suburban. The Suburban then crashed into barrier in the median of the interstate and flipped over after hitting the truck. Another Suburban also hit the Toyota, which was stopped in the middle of the roadway. A fifth car reportedly lost its side view mirror. A 2-year-old was seriously injured in the pile-up and was airlifted by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to McKay-Dee Hospital. The toddler suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI), but is expected to recover. Four other people were also transported by EMS crews to McKay-Dee Hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained in the crash. In addition, five other victims also were taken to Brigham City Community Hospital for treatment.
