Boston, MA—A Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority D Line trolley hit and killed a Boston University graduate on Sunday, October 24, 2010. The fatal accident occurred around 12:19 a.m., inside a fenced in area of the track near the Fenway station, as reported by Boston.com.

According to officials, the Green line trolley struck a 22-year-old Boston University graduate as it was traveling east between the Longwood and Fenway stops. The victim was reportedly inside a fenced-in area of the tracks when he was struck.

Rescuers found the victim, identified as Joshua Stimson, of Brighton, in the gauge of the eastbound tracks. Responding emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

Officials are currently trying to determine why the victim was inside the fenced-enclosure. Reports indicated the victim may have been under the influence of alcohol, because he was allegedly drinking prior to the accident.

The MBTA Transit police are investigating the fatal accident. The Brookline Police and fire departments, along with the EMS, responded to the scene.
