- Today, the average American is more likely to die of a drug overdose than a car crash. The drug epidemic has become so serious that the chances of dying due to a drug overdose is 1 in 98. The odds of dying in a car accident are 1 in 112.
- Accidental deaths take a tremendous toll in the workplace as well, with transportation-related accidents accounting for 41 percent of occupational deaths.
- Fatigue also plays a huge role in workplace fatalities. The NSC believes that as many as 478,000 workplace deaths involve fatigue or a sleep disorder.
