Drunk driver crashes into car of pregnant woman

Detroit – A woman was jailed after reportedly crashing into the vehicle of a pregnant woman while driving under the influence of alcohol. As reported by the Detroit Free Press, the pregnant woman was seriously injured in the early morning accident, which occurred while she was stopped at a red light.

 

The suspected drunk driver, 26-year-old Natasha June Watts, reportedly failed to brake before approaching the vehicle of the 42-year-old pregnant woman and hitting the back of it at what is believed to have been a high rate of speed.

 

Watts was held on a $50,000 bond in the Macomb County Jail following her arraignment. She is facing multiple charges including causing serious bodily injury crash and driving with a revoke license. According to Roseville police, she has two previous convictions for operating while intoxicated on her record.

 

The victim was reportedly five weeks pregnant at the time of the crash. It is unknown whether there were injuries to her fetus. She was hospitalized for nonlife-threatening injuries.
