Truck driver may face charges in SunRail train accident

Florida – A truck driver could be facing charges in connection with a crash involving a SunRail train that resulted in multiple people being injured. WESH 2 News reported that the dump truck was sideswiped by the southbound train from DeBary in the morning crash after being parked too close to the railroad tracks.

Witness Joshua Holmes is quoted as stating of the crash “I was working here and I heard what sounded like my dumpster being dumped out back, and the train hit this dump truck right here.”

Florida Department of Transportation officials say the incident did not occur at a railroad crossing.

A reported 150 people were aboard the train. Winter Park Fire Rescue said at the time of the report, at least 8 people were being treated at the SunRail station for non life-threatening injuries.
