Iowa – Sprint car driver Kevin Swindell was recently injured in a car crash that occurred at the Knoxville Nationals during the start of a heat race. The Associated Press reported that Swindell’s family released a statement saying he was being treated at the Des Moines Mercy Hospital and undergoing tests, but did not disclose the nature of his injuries.

Swindell’s vehicle reportedly flipped and landed on its wheels after hitting an outside wall. The World of Outlaws event was held on Thursday.

Swindell, 26, is the son of well-known sprint car driver Sammy Swindell. The driver also races stock cars and has competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and the ARCA Racing Series.
