California – Reality star Kim Kardashian came under fire recently after posting a picture of herself on Instagram seeming to promote a controversial morning sickness drug. The Daily Mail reported that Kardashian, who is pregnant with her second child with husband Kanye West, is seen in the photo holding a bottle of Diclegis, a drug that was pulled from shelves decades ago over fears that it caused birth defects.

A new version of the pill was approved by the FDA in 2013. The makers of the drug and the FDA have since debunked the 1980s myths about the drug’s risks. However, some on social media rebuffed what has been perceived as an effort by Kardashian to endorse it.

Kardashian wrote in the caption of her photo “Have you heard about this? As you guys know my #morningsickness has been pretty bad. I tried changing things about my lifestyle, like my diet, but nothing helped, so I talked to my doctor. He prescribed me #Diclegis.”

One Instagrammer wrote in response to the post, “Kim I wouldn't advise 39 million women to take a pill. You don't know the side effects it will have on your fetus.”
