North Carolina – A prospective Duke University student refused to take a rejection letter from the school at face value. After being denied admission, the student wrote a rejection letter rejecting the school’s decision. As reported by Good Morning America, the student, 17-year-old Siobhan O’Dell included in the writing her intentions to attend the school in the fall despite not receiving acceptance for admission.

O’Dell wrote to the school, “Dear Duke University Admissions…Thank you for the rejection letter of March 26, 2015. After careful consideration, I regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me admission into the Fall 2015 freshman class at Duke.”

The student also stated, “Therefore I will be attending Duke University’s 2015 freshmen class. I look forward to seeing you then.”

O’Dell’s letter went viral after she posted it on Tumblr, sparking some to request that Duke University reconsider admitting her.

Duke University held to the decision to not offer O’Dell a spot in the freshman class. The student subsequently posted on social media; however, that she has since been accepted to the University of South Carolina.
